Listener Driven Radio is Now Available in UK and Europe
Recognising the digital, multi-platform, and listener focused radio that UK and Europe already embraces, U.S. based company "LDR - Listener Driven Radio" has announced the launch of it's unique new software program across the Atlantic. A tour of the software is available here.
Principles of Listener Driven Radio, Broadcasters Lee Zapis, Daniel Anstandig, and Mike McVay, announced today the release of the new Listener Driven Radio software, enabling UK broadcasters to become "crowdcasters"(SM). Now, listeners can effectively become the "Music Director," engaged with their favorite music radio brands wherever they go through Listener Driven Radio.
Listener Driven Radio (www.ldrradio.com), known as "LDR" in the U.S., is a much needed new digitally diverse model for radio at a time when the UK broadcast industry is both enjoying record RAJAR listener numbers, and mapping a strategy toward platform plurality that must engage future audience in new ways. Built on the concept of "crowd-sourcing," LDR allows listeners to go online, or to their iPhone or smart-phone, and offer their input into what plays next on their radio station. LDR offers the audience a voice to effectively shape the overall music output of a brand, and it does it all in real-time. The software created high U.S. broadcast industry response when first launched in July, and it triggered a fully subscribed first-phase roll-out that will begin to impact North American radio markets later this month.
McVay New Media President and LDR architect Daniel Anstandig said, "This is a new way of programming radio and growing your brand-community. This is the first time that the power of what we call ‘crowdsourcing'; actually engaging like-minded listener groups within a station's audience reach; has been harnessed this way for radio and it's programmers. The LDR technology allows a broadcaster to constantly absorb listener input, song votes, comments on music, embrace new music, and automatically adapt programming output in real-time. The audience can control the stations on-air product ... within the parameters and format environment that the Program Director creates."
"The LDR software is designed to improve your listener product interactivity during either live or automated output while decreasing the cost of programming." Zapis Capital CEO Lee Zapis said, "The software we've developed will allow the listener to truly take control and engage with their radio. So many of us in broadcasting have been concerned about the competition we face from the internet, digital, and social networking. LDR diminishes those concerns and takes what's best about the Internet and puts it to use for your radio station." McVay Media President, Mike McVay, adds, "It's time that radio operators get over their inferiority complex and embrace new technologies. The times have changed, and God willing, they'll keep changing. Listener Driven Radio is the first application that marries the consumer's wants with the PD's desires ... and that equals great and entertaining programming that's good for any day-part."
Introducing Listener Driven Radio:
· It's groundbreaking. Turn your listeners into collaborators. Constant research generated from active listener interaction. Listeners log-on, click-to-pick their favorite songs, and then sit back and enjoy hearing what they ... and other listeners ... selected to play on the air.
· The Program Director selects the universe from which the listeners click-to-pick. Your station will still be "SAFE" while allowing the audience to program the music that you play.
· LDR builds community by empowering your audience giving them ownership over your programming, integrating their feedback into your music scheduling immediately. Listeners can also comment and vote on new songs, giving them the power to elect new songs for airplay.
· LDR makes it possible for listeners to vote for songs, request songs, pick which song should play next, and upload or vote for new music through radio station websites, mobile devices, and Facebook.
· The radio station will NOW be CONNECTED to the social networking platforms used most by your audience. Turn your radio station into a community. Your listeners will communicate online using LDR, and will be encouraged to repeat visit and repeat listen to your station.
· LDR feeds Twitter automatically for radio stations, helping them to increase tune-in. LDR harnesses the marketing capabilities of social media.
· LDR engages listeners, constantly absorbing their input, votes, and comments about your station's music. This creates a community around a radio station's brand.
· LDR takes a four-pronged approach to reaching listeners. LDR is software that enables listener interaction via Mobile, Widget (embeddable on any site), Your Station Website, and Social Networks (including Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter). Then, listener input drives your on air programming and music scheduling in real time.
· LDR enables you to change your playlist in real time based on listener input. The end result is programming that adapts to your target audience. The LDR software is also fully adaptable to your branding and look-and-feel, seamlessly integrating into your radio station website.
Veteran UK programmer, Lee Cornell, who is now US based, will represent Listener Driven Radio in Europe.
